The Graduate School of Korean Studies (GSKS) at the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) is pleased to announce the 2026 AKS Graduate Fellowship. This non-degree program invites international graduate students to conduct intensive research in Korea for six months, fostering the next generation of scholars in Korean studies.

Fellowship Benefits

• Monthly Stipend: 750,000 KRW.

• Airfare: Economy-class round trip airfare (up to 2,088,000 KRW).

• Accommodation: Free on-campus dormitory.

• Duration: 1 September 2026 – 28 February 2027 (No extensions).

• Additional Perks: Free Korean language courses and access to AKS library/archives.

Eligibility

• Nationality: Non-Koreans or Koreans who have completed all education (elementary to college) outside of Korea.

• Education: Must be currently enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program at an overseas university, or be a Master's ABD (All But Dissertation) student.

• Note: Doctoral ABD students are not eligible.

• Topic: Research must pertain to Korea or Korean Studies.

Required Documents

Applicants must submit a personal statement, a research plan (approx. 3 pages), transcripts, and a letter of recommendation (sent directly by the recommender via email). You must also designate an AKS professor as an academic advisor during the online application.
